Prepare Your Ways Before the Lord
Bible study on salvation and preparation.

The difficult questions of life are easier to deal with when we have prepared our ways before the Lord.

Jotham was one of the good kings in Judah. He was twenty-five years old when he became king and reigned sixteen years. He did what was right in the sight of the Lord. He built the Upper gate of the house of the Lord and the wall of Ophel. He built cities, fortresses, and towers. And he defeated the king of the Ammorites who paid him tribute (2 Ch. 27:1-2).

Second Chronicles sums up Jotham's life saying: "So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God" (2 Ch. 27:6).

People who prepare their ways before the Lord deal with life's questions and are successful. They may not be successful according to human standards, but they are successful because of their relationship with God.

Someone who prepares his ways before God makes every decision with God in mind. Jesus taught the disciples not to worry about what they would eat or the clothes they would wear. Jesus taught His disciples not to worry saying: "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble" (Matt. 6:33-34).

Someone who prepares his ways before the Lord seeks the kingdom of God and His righteousness. This person does everything in light of God's word. This person does not worry about earthly things but dwells upon spiritual things.

Christians are vessels for honor prepared for every good work (2 Tim. 2:21) being equipped by the Scriptures. Paul said: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

In this series of articles we have noticed six important aspects of answering the difficult questions of life.

  • be a faithful child of God
  • appeal to God's word
  • live by faith
  • pray all the time
  • love God
  • prepare your ways before God

Are you prepared to face life's difficult questions? Are you prepared to conquer the foes of life that will beset you in the future? If not, begin preparing yourself today.

God has prepared a home in heaven for those who prepare their ways before the Lord (Matt. 25:34). But for those who prepare their ways before the world, God has prepared everlasting punishment (Matt. 25:41, 46).

For what are you preparing yourself - a home in heaven, or everlasting punishment?
