The Second and Third Plagues
(Exodus 8:1-19)

Pharaoh had hardened his heart after God turned the waters to blood. So, God commanded Moses to speak to Pharaoh again commanding him to let Israel leave Egypt.

God told Pharaoh that he would bring frogs out of the river to make their lives miserable, if he did not let Israel go. God said that the frogs would be so bad that they would be in their houses, beds, and cooking utensils.

Pharaoh did not let Israel leave Egypt to serve God. So, God told Aaron to stretch out his hand with his rod over the streams, rivers, and ponds causing frogs to come upon the land of Egypt.

Then, the magicians did a trick and caused frogs to come upon the land and Pharaoh hardened his heart. But after a while, Pharaoh got tired of the frogs and asked Moses to pray to God that the frogs would go away.

Pharaoh promised that he would let Israel leave Egypt if God took the frogs away. So Moses prayed to God; and God took the frogs away. But Pharaoh's heart grew hard again and he did not keep his promise.

Since Pharaoh did not keep his promise to let Israel leave Egypt, God told Aaron to stretch out his hand turning dust to lice. The magicians could not bring forth lice. So, they told Pharaoh that the finger of God had made the lice in Egypt. But Pharaoh's heart grew hard and he did not obey God.
