Apostles
Bible study on the apostles.

Matt. 10:2-4

Matthew lists the twelve apostles.

Acts 1:24-26

Matthias was selected to take Judas' place.

Acts 1:21-22

Luke lists the qualifications of an apostle. No one today personally accompanied the men who were witnesses of Christ. Therefore, there are no apostles on earth today.

Paul was the last apostle (1 Cor. 15:8-11).

Matt. 28:18-20;
Mk. 16:15-18

The apostles were commission by Jesus; therefore, their teachings are authoritative and must be obeyed (cf. 2 Cor. 5:20; 2 Th. 3:14).

Lk. 24:44-49;
Jn. 14:25-26; 15:26-27; 16:7-15; Acts 1:2; 13:9

The apostles were inspired (1 Cor. 2:10-16; 1 Pet. 1:10-12; 2 Pet. 1:19-21; cf. 2 Tim. 3:16-17).

1 Cor. 15:8-11;
Gal. 1:1, 15-17

Paul was the last of all the apostles, as one born out of due season.

2 Cor. 5:20

The apostles were ambassadors for Christ. God was pleading through them (Eph. 6:20).

1 Cor. 4:16; 11:1;
2 Th. 2:15; 3:6, 14

We must keep the apostolic traditions revealed in God's word (Phil. 3:17; 1 Th. 1:6).

2 Cor. 11:13; Rev. 2:2

There are false apostles (cf. Acts 20:29-30; 1 Tim. 4:1-3; 2 Tim. 3:1-9, 13; 2 Pet. 2:1-22; 3:14-16).
