Jesus told a parable of two sons illustrating repentance.

"Repentance" is a change of mind resulting in a change
of action.

We are led to repentance by godly sorrow (2 Cor. 7:9- 10).

Someone who repents bears fruits of repentance (Lk. 3:8). Today,
a person who obediently turns to the Lord in repentance bears the
fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:16-26; Eph. 5:8-10).
